Garage Conversions
Converting a garage is one of the easiest ways of getting extra space in your home, without adding an entire room. By taking care of waterproofing, opening up windows and bringing up a wall, you can convert your garage into a bedroom or family room. Remember, that a garage conversion will include electric and plumbing work, and installation of heating and cooling systems. You can also create additional storage space to continue using your garage to hold seasonal items and materials, household and gardening tools etc.
A garage conversion allows you to create extra space at a cost that's much lower than making an addition to the house. You already have a room, and with some creativity and planning, you can easily convert your garage into livable spaces, like a family room or a bedroom. The focus should be on having a livable space that looks like an integral part of the house. This means that your garage conversion must include heating and air conditioning, new electrical fittings and additional plumbing, if necessary. If you are planning to convert your garage into your bedroom, an attached bath is a must. If you have a double garage, you can even consider portioning off the space, so that the front part of the garage functions as your carport, while the rear comprises your living space.
Check with your local Rochester, NY area building authorities about special requirements that are needed for a garage conversion. For instance, if your garage conversion affects the drainage system, you may need to apply for special permits. If in doubt, ask for the advice of your surveyor. The time to get your permits in place is before you start work on the project.

Hello, i am currently looking into adding a loft into my home. it is a two story home, 1630 current sqft and in our living area downstairs is a straight up ceiling going clean to the second floor. what i am trying to say is, above our living room, there is no current living space... just a wide open ceiling. my wife and i have wanted to add in a loft up there for about two years, and we believe we are ready now. there are a couple other home improvements we would like to do, including moving our master bedroom closet to another part of the house ( a section of the loft). we would also like to extend our master bedroom door down the hallway about 4 feet. in the old closet we want to add a large jet bath. it should fit beautifully from what we see, but then again, you guys are the pro's! we would like to get a quote as to how much all of this would cost us. we would also more than likely replace the carpet going up the stairs, the bedrooms and then add carpet to the new loft. we hope |
I am selling my house. I need to replace my whirlpool tub in my master bath. It is a corner whirlpool tub that is 60 inches by 60 inches. It is 18.5 inches tall. I have seen a nearly identical tub at Lowes (but it is 22 inches tall). Please provide an estimate for replacing my tub or installing the tub from Lowes. |
